Summary:
Believed to be the alpha mutation of a previously isolated tunnel rat population, the Brood Mother is a hyper-adapted predator roughly the size of a transport hauler. First encountered during an SFD operation in Sub-Level Caverns 3B, her appearance marked a critical escalation in bio-mutant activity.

The creature exhibited extreme aggression, territorial dominance, and advanced problem-solving capacity. Sightless but highly reactive to sound and motion, the Brood Mother was capable of detecting prey through seismic and thermal shifts in the environment. Her back was lined with jagged, bone-like spines—possibly a defense mechanism or secondary sensory structure.

Physical Description:

  • Size: Estimated 9.2 meters in length

  • Locomotion: Quadrupedal, with low, stalking gait

  • Hide: Dense, matted fur over corded musculature

  • Armor: Calcified dorsal plating with puncture resistance

  • Tail: Prehensile, with a hardened, spear-like tip (used to impale and pin targets)

  • Vision: None. Behavior suggests echolocation or vibration tracking

  • Fangs: Yellowed and uneven, capable of shearing through composite armor

  • Known to emit low-frequency vocalizations before charging

Encounter Notes:
During initial contact, the Brood Mother neutralized two operatives before being engaged by the full Devil’s Raiders squad. Despite heavy fire, she maintained offensive pressure and required multiple concentrated strikes to be brought down. Final blow delivered via plasma discharge to the cranial ridge.
